SAGINAW, Mich.

Police from two townships say they're chipping away at a gang of counterfeiters. Police arrested a 22-year-old Saginaw woman on 14 counts of uttering and publishing.

Saginaw Township Police Lt. Gary Grauf said the woman is part of a gang of females who have cashed dozens of stolen and counterfeit checks in Saginaw and Bridgeport townships.

"We've been chasing her for at least two years," said Grauf. "We sent out numerous alerts to area banks and credit unions, warning them to watch out for her and the rest of the women, who were writing checks to themselves for large amounts of money and cashing them." Grauf did not know how much money the women stole. He did not know whether any other arrests were pending.
